This pair of work acknowledges the 15 years I’ve devoted to my martial arts practice (Aikido). I’ve realized how crucial this became in bolstering my confidence, as it’s an empowering feeling to know people will think twice about you. This piece addresses not only my love for Aikido, but the multitude of elements that encompasses the cycle of womanhood through a personal lens. I reflected on challenges I’ve faced as a young woman, therefore my work emphasizes the duality of innocence and maturity, unveiling the power of developing a sense of self.
